Dr. Lorraine Fernandes, PT
MPT, MIAP, C/NDT, C/SI
HOPE Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Centre is the brainchild of Dr. Lorraine Fernandes. She is a senior physiotherapist in Goa with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physiotherapy from KLES Institute of Physiotherapy, Belgaum, affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
Dr. Lorraine’s academic work publications inthe Indian Journal of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy on the , “Effectiveness of Artificial Horse Riding on Postural Control in Spastic Diplegics,”.
She continues to pursue continuous professional education to strengthen the care she provides. Her advanced training includes certification in Neurodevelopmental Therapy through NDTA, USA, Sensory Integration through USC, USA, Aquastic Therapy, IAFT, Switzerland, Manual Therapy by University of Melbourne and Autism Intervention. She has also undertaken training in kinesiology taping, myofascial release, dry needling, cupping therapy, taping and vestibular rehabilitation and is a certified Matrix Health Partner. Her commitment to continued learning helps refine assessment and treatment approaches, incorporate advanced therapies and innovative technology.
Her principal areas of focus is Early Intervention for high-risk infants and Paediatric physiotherapy. Her wider clinical expertise spans neurological and orthopaedic conditions, sports injuries, and pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation. She is especially passionate about working with children with autism and supporting each child through individualised, evidence-informed care.
Dr. Lorraine has also conducted community-based rehabilitation programmes to extend practical guidance and therapy support to the community.
Dr. Lorraine is also an empanelled consultant with hospitals across Goa, providing inpatient physiotherapy for neonates receiving intensive care, paediatric and adult patients, and people recovering from illness, injury or surgery.
After working with several established institutions, Dr. Lorraine returned to her home state of Goa with a clear purpose: to make quality rehabilitation accessible to all individuals through advanced, innovative and evidence-based therapy. She founded HOPE Physiotherapy Clinic, Paediatric and Adult Rehab, in Saligao on 15 August 2011. With its continued growth and success, HOPE LG Healthcare was established in 2025.
Today, HOPE Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Centre, Unit of HOPE LG Healthcare Pvt Ltd, operates 3 Centres across Goa, Calangute, Corlim and Panjim. With the aim of providing multidisciplinary therapy, holistic care for all generations.
When away from clinical practice, Dr. Lorraine is more than a therapist. She values time with family and friends and enjoys an active, adventurous life. Swimming, trekking, exercising, mixed martial arts, sports and travelling are among her favourite pursuits.
